Well, yes, basically. Except Christianity, as it's presented in the Bible, is anything but a "religion." Religion is about WHAT WE DO FOR GOD, to seek after Him, and to try to please Him so as to better our lives both in the present, and in hope of finding "salvation" in the future, in eternity.
The Gospel of Jesus Christ is all about WHAT GOD HAS DONE FOR US! The Bible says, it's "not by works of righteousness that we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us," (Titus 3: 5) . We're told that God demonstrates His love for us, in that while we were yet sinners, CHRIST DIED FOR US. (Romans 5: 8).
There is nothing we can do to deserve salvation and forgiveness of sin, but God gives it freely by His grace.
THAT's the difference. Christianity is the OPPOSITE of religion.

About Bro. Roger:
After coming to the knowledge of Christ at an early age, Roger Ellsworth began preaching at age 11 and pastoring at age 16. He has served as pastor of churches in Illinois, Kansas and Missouri. He is currently living in Jackson, TN, and is serving as Pastor of Parkview Baptist Church.
He is also the author of 51 books, including “The Bible Book by Book,” which is one of Evangelical Press’ best-selling titles.
He has also written many articles for Christian magazines.
He served for two years as President of the Illinois Baptist State Association and for 10 years as trustee of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, two of which he was the chairman of the board.
He and his wife Sylvia have two sons, Tim and Marty. Tim is the news and media relations director for Union University, Jackson, Tennessee. Marty is the pastor of the Emmaus Road Baptist Church, Whittington, Illinois.
Roger and Sylvia also have five grandchildren, Daniel, Emmalee, Noah, Isaiah and Eramin.
